Something, that I had just hoped for in my breavest dreams, happened to me. Though who doesn’t long for success, fame and appreciation. I do indeed and have often dreamed of them.
EOnce, my friend Fatima noticed some earrings with my graphics on sold by a street market stall in Barcelona. When I heared about it I got very upset realizing that somebody else tried making money of my work. Nevertheless, in my deepest thoughts I never shared with anyone I felt how big deal it was. Then an other friend of mine, Zora told me that only the best one is copied so I got honestly very proud of myself.
Now, something even better and bigger came along and I was asked to design school notebooks for Herlitz. Actually, the Herlitz in Hungary, where very correct, open-minded and great people work, produced school notebooks with my design on the cover for school start. I enjoyed the work together. There are lined, checked and clear page ones – so all sorts of schoolkids need and they are available in stationary shops all around in the country. So not just Mums could have R.A. designed notebooks anymore but their daughters/sons can have as many as they wish for. I know it well that my unique, handmade, stitched products are expensive for children but these Herlitz notebooks are going to have childfriendly price. Because of the German brand they are high quality paper products with clear prints on their covers so children are going to be happy to have them I hope so. The prices are affordable even if the full collection is considered and they are made in Hungary.
To be honest, on one hand it’s a new and a bit strange feeling if I enter into a stationary shop and notice a shelf that is full of my own designs but on the other hand, I’m very proud of myself at the same time. It’s great that nowadays not only the poor quality, ugly, green-cover school notebooks are available, thus, children ’s taste can be influenced. It was fantastic to get involved in the procedure and I hope you don’t mind having wider availability of my products for children so you all can get more R.A. notebooks.
