Back from the holidays, a bit depressed. What is ahead of us is my least favorite part of the year, this farewell turning into autumn, preparation for the year-end rush. As I break myself and the kid again into routines after this immensely beautiful summer and we can progress gradually into the cold darkness. To pull myself through I usually surprise myself with a small consolation present.
And „this might qualify for being a consolation present” is what I thought, when I agreed to undertake an assignment from the publisher to take part in the creation of an 18 month school-calendar (running from 1st of September 2015 – till 31st December 2016), a format internationally familiar but locally not well-known. We targeted students, teachers, and of course mothers with this calendar primarily, but I would suppose most calendar fans will appreciate this new type simply just because you need to change it less often. You can keep on loving the old calendar for a longer time and the information can be looked up even further if needed. Since it covers a longer span of time and it is held at hand longer the published wanted to add a little almanac-feeling to enrich the calendar: we inserted the descriptions of certain holidays, illustrious or public custom days as researched from the archives of the Open Air Ethnography Museum of Szentendre (better known as: Skanzen). Moreover, also for the almanac-like look photos were included: the food stylist known from popular gastronomy-blogs, Milutinovits Panka, had selected from her food images and even shares some of their recipes with us. So we managed to put together a really practical, chick-style product and because each and every women keeps inside their soul some of the sticker sticking girl, we accessorized the calendar with special event pictogram stickers (signposting like eg. when the repairmen comes, when we should not forget an important business lunch or a good theater or movie.) I am really curious and looking forward to see your reactions! There are photos and recipes in the inner pages as well, I do not know how you are with it, but they bring the water to my mouth whenever I look at them.
Details are worth observing too, job-bound book, closed with snap-fastener, sticker accessories.
The inner pages display a weekly layout, the days are listed on the left side pages, the right side is left for writing notes. There are extra spaces for notes next to the insert photo illustrations too so that you can write for example your own recipe, inspired by the photo.
